AOIFE MURRAY O’BRIEN
Ballet, Modern Theatre/Jazz, Contemporary & Tap Teacher
Aoife started Ballet at a young age and continued with it attaining her ISTD ballet and modern and RAD exams up to vocational level. She went on to train professionally as a contemporary dancer at Danceworks Berlin graduating with a Diploma in Contemporary and Modern dance. Here she got to work with many different choreographers as well as opportunities to create her own work. She is currently working on attaining her DDE Ballet ISTD.
Over the past year, she has had the opportunity to take various workshops to explore the repertoire, style, and creative techniques of various choreographers including Crystal Pite, Matthew Bourne, and Alain Platel. All of which have given her valuable insight to myriads of ways to approach and teach movement and foster creativity.
On top of this, she graduated with a BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen. Currently, her focus is Dance and Sports Psychology. She believes this to be a vital part of dance students’ training to learn how to handle stress and anxiety and perform to their full potential. This has led to a passion for helping dancers discover this strength within themselves as well as helping to create learning environments that foster growth and improvement.
